History of the Ensemble
The Vocal Ensemble was created in September 1997, by Jacques Padet within the framework of the University of Reims Social Action Committee (CASUR). It originally gathered employees from the University, then joined by choir members from different backgrounds. It has welcomed about a hundred choir members since it was created and is now a flexible small chorus with soprano, tenor, bass and contralto singers. Depending on the piece, the ensemble can go from two to about ten singers. New members can join the chorus anytime during the year.

Repertoire
The Vocal Ensemble repertoire gets inspiration from a capella classical polyphony (from the 15th Century to early 20th Century), as well as from traditional popular music.

Mission
The group aims at performing on the occasion of official events organised by the University (colloquiums, congress, remembrance ceremonies, etc.) and at helping welcome visitors. Since its creation, the Vocal Ensemble performed over 30 concerts.

The group is available for free for University’s employees who would like to organise events. The performance’s duration can be adapted to the occasion (20-25 minutes before a cocktail party for instance).

Rehearsals
The group rehearses during the university year, accordingly to members' availabilities.
