Objectives
The course within the specialty in Maths aims at providing students with advanced skills in Maths so they can access teaching careers (Examination of aptitude for teaching), research in Maths, an engineer-level position in industry or service (banks, insurance agencies).

The Degree helps develop analysis and modelling capabilities when facing a complex situation that can be mathematically expressed so as to develop initiative when searching appropriate answers and when reasoning, drafting or presenting results clearly.

Admission
In first year of Master's Degree (M1): admission by right for graduates of an Undergraduate Degree in Maths, Applied Maths, and Fundamental Maths. Appointment request to register in July or September on www.univ-reims.fr

 

In second year of Master’s Degree (M2): admission on application for graduates from the first year of Master’s Degree.
Applications are available on request to the person in charge of the Degree.

Careers
Specialty in Statistics for assessment and prospective:

 

The Specialty aims at training future statisticians working upstream from economic and social prospective assessment approaches.
More particularly, it aims at training executives with asserted and thorough skills in quantity and data processing, statistics, econometrics and data mining.

Specialty in Mathematical Modelling for the Engineer’s sciences:

The specialty aims at training engineer-level executives for design and R&D careers.
The executives have skills in mathematical modelling, statistics, digital analysis, digital simulation software development and integration, and, for physical sciences, in mechanics, signal and communications processing.

Research Specialty in Maths:

• Preparation to continue with a PhD in one of the fundamental Math research laboratory departments.
• Preparation to continue with a PhD in Applied Maths up to the selection of Teaching Units (UE).
• Preparation for the Examination of aptitude for teaching, with the option to continue with a PhD in one of the fundamental Math research laboratory departments.
• Preparation for the Examination of aptitude for teaching, with the option to continue with a PhD in Applied Maths.

Organisation of studies
The Master’s Degree is split into two years of two semesters each. Each semester is worth 30 ECTS credits, the full Master’s Degree is hence worth 120 credits.

 

1st year of Master’s Degree (M1) in Maths.

2nd year of Master’s Degree (M2): 3 possible specialties:
- specialty in statistics for assessment and prospective - professional
- specialty in Mathematical modelling for the engineer’s sciences - professional
- specialty in Maths - research

Internship
2nd year of Master’s Degree (M2): internship in a company or a laboratory in the 10th semester.
