The 6th edition of the EU Wine Law Summer School is hosted by the University of Reims School of Law as part of the Wine & Law Program - a Jean Monnet Chair.
It 's a 10-day intensive program, entirely in English, on the legal aspects of wine trade within and with the European Union.
This year, the program will focus on Intellectual Property Rights in the Wine Sector - International and comparative aspects.

The full proposal "Toward a sustainable viticulture: improved grapevine productivity and tolerance to abiotic and biotic stresses by combining resistant cultivars and beneficial microorganisms" - VitiSmart - from the Research Unit on Vine and Wine from Champagne (URVVC, EA 4707) in response to the 1st FACE SURPLUS Call has been a success.
FACCE SURPLUS (Sustainable and Resilient agriculture for food and non-food systems) is committed to improve collaboration across the European Research Area in the range of diverse, but integrated, food and non-food biomass production and transformation systems, including biorefining.
The overall objectives of FACCE SURPLUS will be:
-to improve collaboration and cooperation across the European Research Area in the fields of diverse, but integrated, food and non-food biomass production and transformation systems, including biorefining.To link up and create a network of research platforms, enterprises and clusters of enterprises (as associations of family farms, sme's etc.) and facilities/research infrastructures across Europe working on the sustainable intensification of agriculture as well as focusing on innovation for increased, resilient and sustainable biomass production and product transformation processes for added value creation.
-to support innovation and value creation from biomass and biorefineries in synergy with the environmentally sustainable intensification of agricultural and other biomass production taking into account the required economic, environmental and social conditions.
The project VitiSmart hold by the URVVC gathers 9 European countries (Germany, Great Britain, Belgium, Cyprus, Poland, Spain, Italy and Netherlands) and 16 research labs.
The indicative total available budget amounts to 2 417 000 € and 1 525 000 € will allowed to the project.

The 2014 graduates came back especially from Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Israël, Italy, the Philippines, Singapore, Turkey and the United States to receive their diploma.
Demet Güzey (Turkey) is top of her class for her outstanding thesis entitled: « Food rituals and rites of passage among some of the ethnic minorities in Istanbul and reflections on food and social integration».
This ceremony took place at the same time as the 11th class of Hautes Etudes du Goût (HEG), a Le Cordon Bleu program, with 15 participants including an executive chef, pastry chefs, a researcher in agri-foods (Terreos-Syral), the founder of a gastronomic projects incubator, a sommelier, a catering company manager, a lecturer in gastronomy and culinary arts, un dietician, etc... representing 13 different nationalites : Australia, Austria, Brazil, France, India, Jordan, Malaysia, New-Zealand, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Spain and Switzerland.
All united by a same desire to acquire new tools to understand the world of taste, gastronomy and the arts of the table,the program was also for them a great opportunity to exchange and learn on each other's culture and to expand their professional network.
New ambassadors of Champagne, they all expressed their satisfaction and enthusiasm after these two weeks of learning with the best food experts and this immersion into the French gastronomic culture. They now have 7 months to submit their thesis.

The Wine & Law Program (www.wine-law.org) of the University of Reims is pleased to announce the granting by the European Commission of a Jean Monnet Chair on European Regulation of the Wine Sector, for the years 2015-2018.
The objective of the Chair is to promote education and research in the field of European Wine Law by developing new courses, enhancing research programs and promoting the European model of regulation of wine.
It is the first time that this distinction has been attributed to Wine Law. The holder of the Chair and Director of the Wine and law Program, Prof. Theodore Georgopoulos will give priority to international cooperation and to projects that encourage the bridging between theory and practice in the field of wine law in Europe.
The Hautes Etudes du Goût – Advanced Studies in Taste program is purposely built on talent and knowledge to allow students to come face to face with the most distinguished researchers, university teachers, and professionals, recognized for their expertise in their given discipline.
In addition to the fundamental teachings that make up the HEG program, each year the Educational Committee offers supplementary lectures to complement the array of topics covered during the program.

Hautes Etudes du Goût (HEG) has set its mission as to provide a multidisciplinary program consisting of the latest knowledge on a vast array of disciplines which, put together, define the fascinating universe of taste and gastronomic culture.
This program leads to the DUGGAT (University Diploma on Taste, Gastronomy and the Arts of the Table) delivered by the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne and is associated with 60 ECTS credits.
