Team presentation

The CRIMEL research centre is the heir of both the Centre for the study of classical and neo-classical european literatures (founded by the latinist J.-P. Neraudau) and the Act of reading centre (founded by Michel Picard in 1976) . This multidisciplinary research centre gathers specialists of Greek, Latin, French and comparative literature, but also of book history. Its aim is to combine historical and formalist critical perspectives, in the field of literary and artistic creation.

It focuses on the transmission, innovation and reception of the literary and esthetical models that have contributed to structure the literary field in classical and modern languages.

The research centre develops research programs on a pluriannual basis, organizes and publishes scientific conferences, regular research seminars, and international summer schools for PhD students (Padova 2014, Reims 2017, Praha 2020). The CRIMEL has launched a book series, Héritages critiques, aiming at making available rare texts, accompanied with interpretative perspectives. It has also created a collaborative research website : crimel.hypotheses.org.
