Teaching activities

My teaching activities (circa 235 h per year) are carried out, respectively, at the Bachelor of Science level, the National Diploma of Oenology, the Master of Grapevine and Wine Science and the Master degree in Wine and Spirits Law. My teaching skills are the following:

  • Anatomy and chemical composition of grapes
  • Biochemistry of the maturation process of grape berries (biosynthesis and metabolism of sugars, organic acids, nitrogen compounds and polyphenolics)
  • Enzymatic activities of the grape berry (pectinases, oxidoreductases)
  • Wine chemistry
  • Tartaric acid salts stabilization process
  • Principles of winemaking

I am currently head of the Master of Grapevine and Wine Science, the Wine and Champagne Master degree as well as the head of the oenology program in the Bachelor of Science degree

Coordination of national and international projects in relation to vine and wine

2007-2014

Coordinator of the VINEAL 2 Program (French government/ Champagne-Ardenne regional council project, CPER 2007-2013) entitled « Grapevine diseases: Alternative strategies to the use of pesticides. Grape and wine proteome and physico-chemical study of the effervescence and the foaming properties of champagne wines». 20 different academic institutions (French and foreign universities, CNRS, INRA) and six companies, representing at least 100 scientists, were allocated to this federative project. Its total budget was 15 117 340 €. A financial support of 2 618 340 € was allocated to this research program (6 PhD and 6 post-docs.)

My research activities have led to 300 articles with around 200 published in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports, of which 75 have been published since 2015, one international patent, 270 communications to numerous Symposia or Congresses, the organization of three international symposia and the creation of a series of Symposia entitled Macromolecules and Secondary Metabolites of Grapevine and Wine. I have edited three books and 15 special issues. I am (or have been) member of the editorial committees of 15 different academic journals and occasional referee for 75 different scientific journals. I am ranked in the Top 1% of the most influential researchers in the world (world's list of the most influential researchers for the years 2021 and 2022 published by Stanford University, using Scival (Elsevier) platform data).
