URCA builds its scientific strategy around its 4 interfaced scientific applications clusters.

The cross-disciplinary nature of the disciplines mobilised makes it possible to develop original interdisciplinary approaches and new solutions to address contemporary problems and challenges.

recognition of major research organisations (CNRS, INSERM, INRAE, INERIS, ANSES, CEA) and supports its research through strategic partnerships at regional, interregional (CGE, Institut Carnot MICA, INERIS), cross-border (UMons, ULg, RWTH Aachen) and international level. With an approach consisting of close cooperation with the economic and industrial fabric, URCA is an active member of the global competitiveness clusters IAR (Industries and Agricultural Resources), Biovalley (Healthcare) and Materalia (structuring materials and innovative processes), as well as the European Centre for Biotechnology and the Bioeconomy (CEBB).

URCA facilitates the transfer of technology and knowledge from public research to businesses through its technology transfer acceleration company (SATT) and its start-up creation incentive policy.

Its federative research structures, the FR CNRS Condorcet (30 national and international research laboratories and more than 700 research professionals) focused on the valorisation of the bioeconomy and the SFR Cap Santé focused on biochemistry, imaging and the humanities and social sciences, contribute, through their action, an additional dynamic to its scientific policy.

A shared ambition

URCA’s ambition is clear : to be a key player on the European and international stage in the bioeconomy and the environmental field.

For 30 years, the university has carried out numerous research projects focused on agricultural resource issues, their production and their valorisation, in the fields of biology, soil and environmental sciences, chemistry, engineering, digital, humanities and social sciences.

[Zone de Texte: The bioeconomy in figures + CMQ and SFR Condorcet elements] The bioeconomy is a regional, national and European priority, and lever for major strategic development, and constitutes an opportunity for reindustrialisation and a competitive advantage conducive to the development of new sectors of the future in terms of innovation.

In order to give impetus to a new drive and increase its influence, URCA brings together many players in higher education and research from the region, all committed to a shared strategic approach based around four scientific applications clusters.
