Software section

This section is intended to provide you information, links and files necessary to install Avogadro and our plugins on your computer.

  • Information: Avogadro and WiiChem (WmAvo)

Currently, our plugins are not available natively in Avogadro. We have good hope that one day will be the case. For "WiiChem" and "WmAvo" terms: "WiiChem" means the entire project, "WmAvo" represents the plugins for Avogadro. If you just want to use Avogadro:

  • Installation for Windows: Package Avogadro WiiChem + (WmAvo)

For Windows (XP, Vista, Seven), the simplest solution is to install our package (Avogadro + plugins) available at this link:

We strongly recommend you to install OpenBabel available at one of these links (to have all Avogadro features) :

Please read the hardware section for further information to connect the Wiimote on Windows.

If you have a problem during the Avogadro start: "This application failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.", You should install Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1.

  • Installation for Linux: Avogadro installation, then compilation of Wiimote plugins

Linux (tested on Debian Squeeze and Ubuntu 9.10), the simplest solution is to download the packages (Avogadro, OpenBabel ...) and the source code of our plugins available on this page:

All the information you need is in the README.txt file located in the directory script/. It will tell you what to do. For more information, you can go see the doc/ directory.

Important information: To compile our plugins, the Avogadro package that you install must be at least version 1.0.1. The 1.0.3 is highly recommended and can be downloaded on the official website of Avogadro.
