Language Resource Centre (Maison des Langues)

The CEREL of the Moulin de la Housse Campus is the first Language Resource Centre created by the MAISON DES LANGUES in URCA. Others will be progressively set up in the other campuses. For the time being, it offers 29 languages in controlled self-training, among which English and French as a foreign language (see list on http://eos.univ-reims.fr/cerel/).

There are two ways to register:

• 1) Institutional mode

The CEREL can conclude agreements with University Units to organise language training courses, notably English. In this case, the students attend the CEREL sessions at specific time-slots. The Units should contact the CEREL if they wish to conclude such an agreement.

• 2) «auditeur libre (without obligation of exam)» mode

All students on the campus have free access to CEREL resources. They are under the responsibility of a teacher and may take part in conversation workshops in their chosen language. Please send e-mail to maisondeslangues@univ-reims.fr

CEREL activities are organised by a team of competent language teachers. It can receive several thousand of students in its current premises. The “institutional” evaluation is performed as a continuous assessment. Various other types of assessment are available depending on the languages (certifications, tests, portfolio...). In all case, the students can have their levels recorded on their degrees when leaving URCA. The scale used is the common European language reference.
