PRESENTATION

What is a BRC or a Biobank?

A BRC (Biological Resource Center), also called Biobank, referred to structured collections of biological samples and associated data, stored for the purposes of present and future research.

A BRC manages the preparation, conservation and provision of Biological Resources (samples and associated data) for scientific purposes.

It can also build collections and make them available to researchers within the framework of clinical or fundamental research projects

The PF CRBs of Reims (Platform of Biological Resource Centers of Reims)

The PF CRBs Reims created in 2020 is a multithematic biobank by the administrative union of the three main Biobanks of Champagne Ardenne Area, the CRB CHAR, the CRB-TCA (certified since February 2016) and the CRB Toxoplama (certified since January 2010). The PF CRBs Reims collections are distinguished by 3 main themes:

  • The human theme
  • The plant theme
  • The microbial theme

The PF CRBs Reims is under the joint management of the Reims University Hospital and the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA). The scientific directors of the PF CRBs Reims are Prof. Isabelle VILLENA and Prof. Aude MARCHAL (Dr Anne DURLACH by delegation).

MISSIONS OF THE PF CRBs REIMS

  • Reception, preparation and safe storage of samples under quality assurance.
  • Samples are processed in accordance with the technical protocols defined in advance for the recovery of different types of samples. The samples are kept within the two constituent sites of the PF CRBs (CHU and URCA) depending on the nature of the collections.
  • Recording of the data associated with the samples stored in the TumoroteK® software (particularly the location of the samples in the storage enclosures).
  • Provision, free of charge or fee based, of biological resources to the scientific community, to industries in the field of health, agronomy or biotechnology.
  • After examination of the request, an estimate and a supply contract are proposed. Upon signature of the documents, the samples accompanied by their data are sent.
  • Promotion of Biological Resources in publications, scientific communications and participation in national and international networks.

PF CRBs Reims can also provide services for other teams and other organizations.

The missions of the PF CRBs Reims are carried out in compliance with regulations (ISO 20 387 and ISO 9001) and the protection of individuals (patient consent and anonymization of samples).

PF CRBs Reims is free from any commercial, financial and scientific influence.
