Launch of the Maison pour la science (science centre) in Champagne-Ardenne
The House for Science (MPLS) in Champagne-Ardenne was inaugurated on Wednesday 5 February 2020. It is the result of a partnership between the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, the Reims Education Authority and the La Main à la Pâte Foundation. It is the twelfth MPLS to open its doors in a national network led by the Academy of Sciences and coordinated by the La Main à la Pâte Foundation.
The House for Science in Champagne-Ardenne will offer training courses to primary and secondary teachers, as well as support in the implementation of scientific or technological projects. The objective is to offer teachers in primary and secondary schools, from nursery school to the fourth year of secondary school, attractive and modern professional development in science, bringing them closer to the science and technologies that are being developed in research laboratories at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne.
At the same time, the House for Science in Champagne-Ardenne will promote the establishment of pilot secondary schools in the region. Launched in September 2016, the pilot secondary schools form a national network made up of 103 establishments, the majority of them located in priority education or rural areas. They aim to encourage creative, contemporary and formative science and technology practice in classes, based on special relationships with researchers, engineers and technicians.
The inauguration of the House for Science in Champagne-Ardenne took place in the presence of Guillaume Gellé, President of the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, Alain Cadix, key skills and training delegate from the Academy of Technologies, and Daniel Rouan and Pierre Léna, respectively president and honorary president of the La main à la Pâte Foundation.
