How many documents can I borrow and for how long?
To borrow, you must have your student card or at the least your identity card. For external readers, the card established during your registration is necessary. The loan is unlimited in number of documents, except for specific collections such as legal codes, past exam papers or documents for the primary school teacher exam.
Students and external readers: 3 weeks
Teachers, researchers, PhD students, members of staff: 9 weeks.
2 renewals of 3 weeks for all. The 3-week renewal is not cumulative with the original loan period but takes effect on the date when the extension is made.
How can I check the list of the documents I borrowed?
You can check the list of borrowed documents and the due date from the library catalogue. For members of the University community, your identifiers are those of the digital workspace; for external readers, your identifiers were given to you the day you registered with the library.
My loans are overdue, what is the penalty?
Any late return of borrowed documents results in a loan suspension equivalent to the number of days of delay. A reminder message by email or text-message is sent to you three days before the deadline for returning documents. In order to avoid delays, you can renew your loans.
How can I renew my loans?
The renewal of loans has to be done at the latest the day before you had to return the documents. Renewal is not possible when the book is reserved by another reader or when the document is already overdue. You can renew your loans:
- Online, from the library catalogue, menu My account. For members of the University community, your identifiers are those of the digital workspace; for external readers, your identifiers were given to you the day you registered with the library.
- By coming to your library’s welcome desk
- By phoning your library’s welcome desk
- By email to the address of your library
How can I place a hold on a document already borrowed?
You can place holds only on documents already borrowed. You have the possibility to place a hold on borrowed documents: either directly from the document record in the library catalogue, or by asking at the library welcome desk, holds are limited to 5 simultaneous requests. You will be warned by email of the return of the documents, which will be kept at your disposal at your library’s welcome desk during 5 working days. After this time, the documents will be reshelved.
I lost or damaged a book borrowed from the library.
You have to mention it at the library welcome desk. You will be asked to participate in the replacement of the book according to the following calculation: price of sale of the document + a fixed price of 8 euros for equipment and processing fees. You cannot buy an item of the document yourself.
I have borrowed books in a library, can I return them in another library of the network?
Returning borrowed documents is possible in all libraries of the network.
I am stuck (illness, injury…)
If you are temporally disabled, you can request the preparation of a set of books you would like to borrow, thanks to the book basket service. A trustworthy person with a proxy can come and pick up the documents for you. The loan period can be extended depending on your situation and upon presentation of proof.
I am going on an internship or I am a distance learning student, can I borrow for a longer period of time?
The initial loan period may be extended upon presentation of a certificate of internship proof and upon authorization of the head of the library.
