The Scientific Council is consulted about the policy lines regarding research, scientific and technical documentation, as well as the distribution of research budgets.

The Scientific Council may put forward wishes and ensures the links between teaching and research. Restricted to teacher-researchers, it gives its opinion on teaching staff transfers, on integration of civil servants from other bodies into teaching staff, on the possible tenure of trainee lecturers and on recruitment or renewal of temporary research and teaching auxiliary personnel.
